Group work………oh no!!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — kellbell @ 3:12 am

Ok I must admit that I am one of those types of people who can not stand group projects.  This is only because in my past experiances of college group projects I have always been in the lucky group that outta maybe the 4 or 5 groups in the class has the most problems.  Like this one time in one of my education courses this one girl she would not do anything even though me and the other group member gave her as little as possible she still wouldn’t do the work and then tried to blame us her group members for everything.  so when I seen we had to do a group project I was not all too in love with the idea.  I’m sorry I like doing things myself because then I don’t have to relay on others to do this or that and I don’t have to worry about weither or not it is getting done.

However for this project I think it is going ok.  Like i see some trouble spots, I think my group members and I could try and get over ourselves and try to act more group like.  It is ok though I don’t mind as long as the assignment gets done.  From what I see of it now I defiently think that our wiki page is looking good.  Sure we’ve had some problems i.e. the fact that my book has visited almost every state on the east coast before it arrived here…….I still don’t have it by the way, I had to go to the st.rose library and get an alternative copy of the book to use……but according to the usps website it is in the mailroom somewhere so its here hopefully just in time for me to send it back…..ha ha!

For this week I commented Alex’s blog and I wanted to Comment Alyssa’s too but for some random reason when i went to leave the comment wordpress keep saying that it was a duplicate and that I had already commented her blog when i really didn’t so I dunno!!!

  1. I can completely agree with your dis-like of group work. As we talked about before I told you what happened to me last semester. It really makes a difference who you are grouped up with, however, like you said I think it’s going pretty well and we are getting everything done that needs to be accomplished.

  2. I too dislike group work. I don’t like it for the main reason I feel responsible. When a person in the group doesn’t do their work, I don’t stand up to them and tell them, I may remind them to do it, but thats it. I get afraid of getting a bad group grade so if they continue to not do the work, I end up doing it for them. I don’t like getting a grade on something I didn’t do. I like to get my work graded and know that I did to the best of my ability not to the best of someone elses. Theres just too much to worry about with deadlines and information and meeting. It’s just a pain sometimes. Some projects work, but its usually when they are just for in class and not outside, that way there is no reliability on anyone else.

  3. I have to disagree with you when you talk about not liking group work. I love working in groups because i think that it makes you learn about other people. It also gives you a chance to work out problems with others. I feel it is easier to have a group if you have questions you can just ask each other instead of trying to figure it out on your own. Yeah sometimes people don’t like to do their share of work, but that is when you stick of for your group and say something. I feel that when my group worked together we learned a lot from eachother in many different ways. We all had different ways of going about things but it just made it that much more interesting.
