Blog #8…Canonical vs. Non-cononical?!?!?!

Filed under: Uncategorized — kellbell @ 4:16 pm

For this blog were supposed to write about themes we see in both canonical and non cononical books.  It’s purpose is ment to help us prepare for our paper that is coming up.  Now that we are getting into the book invisiable man it is clear that even though it is not a cononical work it has themes common with books we have read previously in the semester.  one theme common in this is book is the whole time thing.  In the book Invisable Man the narrator is opens the book with his grandfather’s dying words to his father.  These words are brought up again later in the book.  so we have the maybe not obsession with the past but we have flashbacks in this book for sure.  Since we are still working through the book all themes might not have come out yet.  So another Non-cononical work is the book I used for our wiki project.  This book was the collection of short stories and poems by Dorothy Parker. Working off of memory and our wiki one theme that stands out to me is the fact that in most of the short stories by Parker most of the relationships the characters have is that of a messed up love story.  None of the characters seem to get along with their lovers.  So Love or the lack there of is a reoccurant theme.  So this proves while a book not be included in the canon it still can fit and relate to the books in the canon.

For this blog I commented Amanda Lea’s and Lauren M’s Blogs!!!! :-)
